Wow... I haven't posted in a long time...

I love journaling and blogging was a way to do that but wow I haven't blogged in a while.

Let me see.

Well since February I have graduated college. Thank God! I am looking for a job. Heather has a new job that is going to be awesome for her.

Last night we had an awesome theology group cookout. I am just simply amazed that a group of people could be brought together in such an amazing way.

Today has been tough. However, because of today's difficulty. I have decided to blog once again. So, here is to many more posts.

Things I don't get...

Let me begin this post by saying that I know for a fact God blesses people. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind about this.

Me: How are you doing? (Generic question)
Responder: I'm blessed.

Okay seriosly? Is that right? I am so glad. However, I feel like this is some kind of Christian Verbal War. How are you? Well let me tell you the Lord has just been blessing me like crazy! Really? That is freaking awesome. But what happens when you don't feel connected to the Lord are you going to give the same response? I mean I guess that is positive thinking. Maybe I'm wrong.

Or just the generally cheesy "christianese" sayings we have. I quite frankly am dumbfounded and flabergasted by there use.

Here are some examples (Feel free to add your own):

How's your walk? (How is my actually gait? Kind of waddley why do you ask?)

How will that affect your witness? (Who committed a crime?)

Unchurced (My wife's favorite she was once told because she hadn't gone to church in a few months that she was in fact unchurched, fascinating!)

A feeling....

You know what I don't like? I don't like being sick. I'm pretty sure most people agree. However, we are people and I'm sure someone somewhere likes being sick. I used to make myself sick to get out of music class in 3rd grade. I was terrified of my music teacher. I love music but this woman was straight "double double toil and trouble". She scared me...alot! Why well a couple of reasons: 1st oragami and 2nd the flutophone. Okay so in music class why would you ever do oragami? Well our teacher decided that it would be fun to make piano oragami. Well that is great but I can't fold properly. I am not a fan of straight lines. Don't like to cut them or fold on them. I'm sure this part of my personality comes as a great shock to many of you. Anyway my piano was sort-of lopsided. She didn't say much about it but I could tell she didn't like it. This just hurt my feelings. She would make passive-agressive comments to the "bad" piano makers. Then we were playing flutophone. Are you aware of this silly instrument? Apparently, it is neccesary for 3rd graders to play hot cross buns on this tiny plastic thing. Anyway. I had a recorder the more sophisticated version of the flutophone. Any way we were supposed to play these glorious instruments in our left hand. I was holding mine in my right before we began playing them. So, my evil music teacher comes over with a permanent marker and rights "L" and "R" on their respective hands. I am not an idiot! I knew the difference. Yet here I am with permanent ink on my hands telling all of the school this kid can't fold (in my head) nor tell left from right. Seriously! This was quite tramatic for me. So, I began to fake sick on music class days. I actually was so afraid I would give my self a fever a sure fire way to go home. Or I'd make myself puke. These were the only solution to my problem. Perhaps talking about it should have been my first inclination but sickness was easier.

Not that it matters but Hot Cross Buns on a Flutophone or Recorder is B - A - G- B- A- G G-G-G-G A-A-A-A B-A-G. Ah memories.

It is cold outside...

I will post pics soon. The electricity has been flickering on and off. Then off. Then on. Then off. Then on.

So, Wednesday my last semester of college begins. I just hope it is a great semester. I'm a little anxious about what lies ahead. I just pray God would give me peace. Here we go...

Art

This is going to be the beginning but not the start. Sometimes things are not as they seem. You have to run fast. What happens? What do you do when you sit down to a computer and you see the blank white page? Do you become ferociously competitive with the page? Do you challenge the blank white seen before you? Is your black typing going to make the problem go away? Is the spreading of letters across the page going to prove anything? Can you come up with the most brilliant ideas or do you simply keep typing opening that the white will give up? The problem is when you get to the bottom of the page you have another wave crash before you. The white will not yield no matter the amount of writing you do. Occasionally when you feel that what is written is right then you find out that someone probably already said what you said. I don’t know why. It is interesting. The whole concept of a novel or a story they are intriguing. This is why I chose English as my major. I don’t honestly care if you need a comma here or a semi-colon there. Sure there has to be structure. I am not denying that. I think that using the rules against themselves in writing is one of the most amazing things. What I enjoy the most about English is the story side. I love that fact that no matter how many black letters press against the white page something is conveyed. We can truly escape. We can see others and how we are connected. When we read the writing that someone has poured themselves into we can see them. Obviously we can’t see the entirety of that person but this is what art is. To me English is art. I love this side. When you watch a movie that touches you to the core you know that art is happening. Writing and acting and cinematography are all mingling on the screen. They create this beautiful story. This is a beautiful painting.

A sleepless night...

It is 10:30 at night. Heather and I are feeling tired. We decide to take advantage of this. Without school our schedules are all sorts of out of whack. So, we are needless to say excited about 10:30. So, Heather immediately is out. Oh how I wish I was that person. It always takes me a long time to go to sleep. So, 11:30 rolls around and I am wide awake. I guess I'll get up and watch a TV show then head to bed. That became watching some Real World Special, Chelsea Handler, and 3 episodes of Cold Case. Yes that would be 5 hours of TV a bowl of grapes and some tea. Seriously? I just wanted to sleep. When 4 something rolled around I turned off the TV and tried again. I think I fell asleep at 5 something and woke up at 1. I need a schedule. I am seriously going to buy stock in Tylenol PM. Not a fan of not being able to sleep.
